Tempro’s Industrial Line Voltage Thermostats provide accurate temperature control for heating, cooling, and refrigeration applications across commercial and industrial settings. With durable steel or stainless-steel enclosures, these thermostats are built to handle dust, light, and indirect splashes, making them suitable for standard indoor environments.  Below, you’ll find the industrial line voltage thermostat testing guide covering step-by-step instructions for ensuring your thermostat operates correctly in cooling, heating, and two-stage systems. For more help with thermostat testing or installation guidance, download the instruction manual here, or contact our support team.

Step-by-Step Testing Guide for the Operation of Industrial Line Voltage Thermostats

NEMA 1 thermostat testing guideA full operating cycle should be observed after installation to ensure all components work properly. Follow these steps to verify correct operation for each type of system:

Cooling and Ventilation Systems

  • Initial Check: Set the thermostat knob clockwise to a setting above the room’s current temperature. The fan or cooling system should remain off.
  • Cooling Activation: Turn the knob counterclockwise to lower the temperature setting. The fan or cooling system should engage at the preset temperature.

Heating Systems:

  • Heating Activation: Turn the thermostat knob clockwise to a setting above room temperature. The heating unit should activate.
  • Heating Deactivation: Turn the knob counterclockwise to a lower temperature setting, turning off the heating unit once the set point is reached.

SPDT and Two-Stage Switching Systems:

  • NEMA 1 thermostat testing guideFan Control: When wired according to Figure 4, the fan should start at ambient temperature, shifting to high speed as the knob moves counterclockwise to a lower temperature.
  • Damper Control: When configured similarly to Figure 5, the damper should open as the temperature setting decreases. Reverse adjustments should occur as the knob moves clockwise.
